The power cord can break off near the base of the massager and expose the wires, posing an electrocution and burn hazard. There are 15 reports of burn injuries to fingers and other parts of the body, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The recalled massage devices include three types of HoMedics handheld massagers. All of them have 120V AC 60HZ power cords.
The Handheld Dual Node Percussion Massager with Heat (HHP-375H model) is white with a gray handle, or black with a gray handle. It has three sets of interchangeable nodes.
The Handheld Hot and Cold Massager (HHP-250 model) is white with a gray stripe, or gray with a blue stripe. It has three, five, or eight interchangeable nodes.
The Handheld Compact Percussion Massager with Heat (PA-MH-THP model) is white on the bottom of the base and gray on top. It has two sets of interchangeable nodes.
The massagers were sold at Bed Bath & Beyond, Macy’s, Rite-Aid, Walmart and other stores nationwide and the Home Shopping Network (HSN) from August 2013 to February 2017 for $30-$50.
HoMedics urges consumers to immediately stop using the massagers and contact the company for instructions on how to remove the cord and get a refund in the form of a credit toward a replacement product.
